Mooney Caravan information

The Mooney Caravan is a formation mass-arrival to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh each year. Our organization is dedicated to facilitating a safe and enjoyable arrival into AirVenture Oshkosh. We have found this to be the best and safest alternative to the Fisk arrival and is the only viable option if you want to camp beside your friends in the North 40.

We conduct formation training throughout the year and have FAA approval to fly to Oshkosh as a mass formation (bypassing the normal single-airplane Fisk arrival).
Don’t be deterred if you have not flown formation, it’s easier than it looks and is easier than you might think. To date, everyone that has tried has succeeded; even those who came to a clinic with trepidation have left with a smile. You can do this and you’ll be glad that you did!

Once we land at Oshkosh, we park and camp together on the North 40 in an area reserved for us by the EAA. We sponsor a variety of activities including a large community tent for meeting and dining, a barbecue dinner night and Mooney aircraft clinics featuring speakers from the Mooney community and factory reps. The Caravan camping experience is a great way to make new friends with Mooneys, and learn about and visit the show at Oshkosh. Many of us fly together from all over the country to Oshkosh and provide mutual support and camaraderie along the way.

How does this work?

We stage in Madison, Wisconsin and depart in elements of 3 airplanes with 15 seconds between elements. When we get near Oshkosh, the tower clears our entire flight to land on 2 parallel runways. Two airplanes from each element land on one runway, the third lands on the parallel runway.

We conduct formation training throughout the year. Check out our Training page for the dates and locations.

Not Just for Oshkosh

Our participants share a strong sense of camaraderie, and the friendship’s borne via our common interests in aviation and Mooney aircraft span the continent and the entire year between Caravan flights. The enjoyment and enthusiasm which we all experience at AirVenture doesn’t wear off; we keep it going throughout the year!
