Mooney Caravan XVI to Takeoff Saturday July 27, 2013
The 16th Mooney Caravan to Oshkosh will be significantly different from the first 14. This year, all four mass-arrival groups (Bonanzas, Mooneys, Cessnas and Cherokees) will utilize the three element formation procedure which has been in use by B2OSH for many years. In a great spirit of cooperation, many Bonanza clinics are inviting other types to train with them. You will have to demonstrate proficiency in the required formation skills to participate in the Caravan flight. This can best be done by attending one of the formation clinics. Please see the training part of this and the B2OSH websites for further information including the dates of many formation clinics.
Departure from Madison’s Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) will be Saturday July 27th this year. We will again use the East Ramp rather than the South ramp we have previously used. The mandatory pilot briefings will include information on formation flight principles required for the Caravan, weather, routing and the flight profile. Each pilot/crew will be required to undergo a ‘situational awareness’ briefing on the ground to view another aircraft spaced at the appropriate distance for the Caravan flight.
Primarily to cover the costs of liability insurance and MSN arrangements, the price to participate has increased a bit this year. You will not show up in the list of registered pilots until your registration is paid.
The $85.00 registration fee is refundable only if your registration is not accepted by caravan organizers.
SAFETY is top prioity for the flight. It is important that
you review the flight procedure and other information at the official EAA AirVenture web site,
. Should you break out
of the caravan during flight, you will be following the standard AirVenture
arrival procedures into Oshkosh.
