Training

Here are the dates and locations for 2018 Mooney training clinics. Please check back often as additional training clinics will be added around the country.

Formation training clinics are organized across the nation by our team as well as our very supportive colleagues in the Bonanzas to Oshkosh (B2OSH) and Cherokees to Oshkosh groups. If you can't attend one of the clinics above, please check out the Bonanza and Cherokee clinics. Mooney pilots who have participated in these clinics have been warmly welcomed by Bonanza and Cherokee pilots and immediately made part of their community.
  • 2017 Visalia Fall Clinic - Porterville, CA - Oct 20 - 22, 2017

The Visalia fall formation clinic has become a regular event.  Unfortunately, due to ramp construction Visalia is not an option this year.  After looking at a number of alternatives I've settled for Porterville (KPTV).

DatesFriday October 20 through Sunday October 22 with afternoon/evening arrival on Thursday October 19.

Airport: 5960 x 150 ft, VOR and GPS approaches (which we hopefully won't need).

Hotel: Visalia Holiday Inn Express. Thanks to Robin Hou we get a special rate of $125 for single occupancy and $135 for double occupancy and breakfast is included. Edward is our contact person there. Check in is 10/19 or 10/20, with check out on 10/22.
Edward said to call  559-782-1200 for reservation, and ask for "WestCoastHepcats" group rate. The hotel will honor this rate for as long as they have rooms.

There are other hotels in Porterville if this one does not suit you.

For the intrepid: there is camping allowed on the field.

Food: The Airway Cafe is open 8am - 2pm each day we are there.  They have 2 listings under YELP (go figure) with 4.5 and 3.5 stars respectively.  There is a good number of restaurants in town.

Transportation: This is the hard part.  None of the hotels in town is in walking distance so we need transportation.  Enterprise (559-788-6240) has an office in town and will pick up at the airport when they are open (7:30am - 5:30pm, Saturday 9am - noon, closed Sunday).  Sunday drop-off would be at their facility and requires a ride to the airport.  I will get one rental car and hope some others will too.  We can shuttle everyone else to the hotel and to dinner.  For planning purposes, let me know if you are getting a car.  There is always uber which costs about $8 for a ride to the hotel.

Your RSVP will help with the planning.  In particular if you are new to formation or need a safety pilot, let me know.

Please contact Wolfgang here - wp (at) pocs.com Hope to see you in Porterville,
