Mooney Caravan

Flying is always better when you're with friends! Since the first Caravan in 1998, the Mooney Caravan to Oshkosh is the best way to meet other Mooney pilots, get proficient in formation flying, and arrive at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in a mass formation. This is the best and safest alternative to the Fisk arrival and is the only viable option if you want to camp beside your friends in the North 40.

Caravan to Oshkosh 2025

Our activities are organized around EAA AirVenture, held annually at the end of July. We stage in Madison, Wisconsin for briefings and organizing. The day of the Caravan, over 50 Mooneys line up in elements of 3, and depart for the flight to Oshkosh, where we fly with FAA approval in dedicated airspace, land together, and taxi to our reserved location on the North 40. We park and camp together and have a community tent, barbeque dinners, Mooney clinics, sponsor events, and more. Being in the Caravan means you always have Mooney friends and family around to visit AirVenture events with.

Regional Clinics

We conduct formation practice events throughout the year in preparation for the Mooney Caravan to Oshkosh. We're organized into regional squadrons across the US, each of which is a tight community of Mooney pilots, family, and friends. If you've never flown formation before, our regional clinics are how you get started! Don't be deterred – it's easier than it looks. To date, everyone that has tried has succeeded; even those who came to a clinic with trepidation have left with a smile. You can do this and you'll be glad that you did!

The Mooney Caravan Organization

The Mooney Caravan is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to safety in gaining formation proficiency for the Caravan to Oshkosh. We're a big family that connects online through this site, our mailing list, and regionally through squadrons and practice clinics. Participating in the Caravan isn't just a great way to get to Oshkosh, it's a way to fly with like-minded pilots, and make connections within our community that you will value for the rest of your life.
